About TwoStrokeMix.org
Built by a small engine enthusiast, for other small engine enthusiasts.
Why This Site Exists
I'm Jeremy, and like many weekend boaters, I've spent more time than I'd like to admit standing at the gas dock, squinting at my owner's manual, trying to figure out: "Wait, was it 2.6 ounces or 3.2 ounces per gallon again?"
My first boat was a 1992 Boston Whaler Rage with a 2-stroke outboard. I loved that little boat—it was tough, simple, and perfect for fishing the local bays. But I also learned the hard way that getting the fuel-to-oil ratio wrong isn't just a math problem. It's the difference between a smooth day on the water and a tow back to the ramp.
Today, I own a 1999 Scout Sportfisher, also powered by a 2-stroke outboard. The stakes are a little higher now—more horsepower, more time on the water, and definitely more expensive repairs if I mess up the mix.
Engineer-Built. Field-Tested.
By day, I work as a mechanical engineer. I understand fluid dynamics, combustion chemistry, and the importance of precision. But I also understand that when you're at the marina with sunscreen on your hands and a fishing trip waiting, you don't want to pull out a spreadsheet.
TwoStrokeMix.org is the tool I wished I had when I owned that Boston Whaler:
- Simple: Enter your fuel amount and ratio. Get your answer. No fluff.
- Accurate: Calculations account for oil density and unit conversions so you don't have to.
- Practical: Results include clear mixing instructions you can actually use at the dock.
- Free: No signups, no ads, no paywalls. Just a tool that works.
What You Won't Find Here
I'm not selling oil. I'm not affiliated with any engine manufacturer. I'm not trying to convince you that 40:1 is better than 50:1 (or vice versa).
What I am trying to do is help you avoid the same headaches I've had—so you can spend less time calculating and more time on the water.
