2-Stroke Mix Ratios
A 2-stroke mix ratio is parts of gasoline to one part oil. 50:1 means 50 parts fuel to 1 part oil, which is 2.56 fl oz of oil per US gallon or 20 mL per litre. Pick your ratio below for a full chart, calculator and FAQ.
| Ratio | Oil per US gallon | Oil per litre | Typically used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50:1 | 2.56 fl oz | 20 mL | Modern chainsaws, trimmers and blowers (Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo) and most modern outboards |
| 40:1 | 3.2 fl oz | 25 mL | Older outdoor power equipment, some trimmers and outboards, many dirt bikes |
| 32:1 | 4.0 fl oz | 31.3 mL | Dirt bikes and motocross, high-performance engines, some older outboards |
| 30:1 | 4.27 fl oz | 33.3 mL | Vintage outboard motors and older equipment |
| 25:1 | 5.12 fl oz | 40 mL | Older equipment and engines that call for a richer mix |
| 20:1 | 6.4 fl oz | 50 mL | Vintage engines and some racing applications |
| 16:1 | 8.0 fl oz | 62.5 mL | Antique equipment and very old outboard motors |
Not sure which ratio you need?
Your owner's manual or the label on the fuel cap is always the final word. If it isn't available, read how to choose a 2-stroke ratio, find your machine in the equipment calculators, or look up an exact amount in the how much oil table.
